Oatmeal Brownies (Diabetic Style)

Can you till I can't wait to go camping. I have given very few recipes this last month. Now every day. We had unseasonal snow 3 days ago and now bright sun. I,m ready. These diabetic recipes are for a book I am trying to get printed, but they are good for all of us to use for prevention as well. I hope you like them, and fill free to add sugar and fat products if you fill you must.

2 1/2 cups oats, divided
3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 package supreme brownie mix, with pouch of chocolate flavoring
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Preheat lid only of a 12" Dutch oven with 16 charcoals, on a lid stand. Spray 12' Du5tch oven with cooking spray. In large mixing bowl. mix oats, flour, brown sugar and baking soda; stir in melted butter. Reserve 1 cup of oat mixture. Press remaining oat mixture in to the bottom on prepared oven. Place oven over 7 charcoals, and cover with preheated lid, bake 10 minutes. cool 5 minutes. Mix brownie mix, chocolate flavored syrup, water, oil, and eggs in medium mixing bowl, using whisk, until well mixed. Stir in nuts. Pour over baked layer; sprinkle with reserved oat mixture. Bake 35 to 49 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 2 hours. Cut into 48 brownies.
