Coca Cola Chicken

This is the recipe for the chicken I did for my grandson on our trip. It was posted once before as coca cola kielbasa, but was originally done as chicken, I have done this at many demos, using all the different meats, After eating the meat, save the sauce in the refrigerator a few days and add a different meat for a second meal.

Coca Cola Chicken

1 - 1 1/2 lb. chicken
3/4 cup coca cola
1/2 cup apricot jam
1/4 cup ketchup
3 T. Onion Soup Mix
2 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. garlic powder

IN a 12" dutch oven with 12 to 14 charcoals on the bottom add all ingredients except chicken, mix well cover with 15 charcoals on top. Meanwhile on inverted Dutch oven lid on lid stand with 12-15 charcoal under lid, brown chicken, ( lid from another oven,or use a grill. Add the chicken to the sauce, mix and continue to cook 15 minutes remove lid and cook an additional 30 minutes or until sauce thickens.

This sauce also works with Kielbasa, Pork Chops, Short Ribs, Ring Bologna or any other meat desired.

  1. Carolyn, No. It tests full. A cola with Splinda sweetener will work if you have that down there.Diet cola gets bitter, when word up.
