                     Cabbage Patch Stew

Another good recipe for camp or on the patio. This one is very good for a camp that dose not allow open fires or even charcoal. No top heat is needed. Cook on a propane camp stove.

1½ pounds ground beef, 80 - 20

1 large onion, diced

1 cup celery, diced

2 cups cabbage, cut in ¼ inch shreds

2 cups water

1 can ( 28 ounce ) diced tomatoes

2 cans ( 15½ ounce ) kidney or pinto beans

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon pepper

2 teaspoons chili powder

In a 12" Dutch oven over 12 to 14 charcoals, brown the beef. Add onion, cook until transparent. Add celery, cabbage and water. Simmer for 15 minutes. Add tomatoes, beans, salt, pepper and chili powder. cover with lid. ( remember no charcoals are needed on lid ).  Simmer for 30 minutes or until cabbage is limp and tender.
