Spicy Cabbage

Each year I plant 5 or 6 cabbage plants to make my  Dads', Almost Famous Saltkraut. But just 2 or 3 will make a years supply. Plane old steamed cabbage is good, but spicy cabbage is great. A good side dish with almost anything. It is a very quick fix, It takes longer to get the charcoal going, but do it anyway.

4 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon white (or Black ) cumin seeds
3 to 8 red chili flacks, to taste
1 small onion, sliced
1 small head of cabbage, shredded  ( 1/2 a large head )
2 medium carrots, greated
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon lemon juice

In a 10" or 12" butter Dutch oven, melt the butter and sauté the cumin seeds, and pepper flacks for bout 30 to 45 seconds. Add the sliced onions and sauté for 2 minutes, or until soft. Add cabbage and carrots and sauté for 5 minutes or until tinder crisp. Stir in salt and lemon juice, and serve.
