Work, Work, Work.

Boy! This going back to work stuff sure cuts into the fun time. I'm Back to cooking for retired folks. about 165 for lunch and dinner. I love doing it, but my dutch oven time suffers a bit.
I'm still looking for good old recipes for you, and am looking in a book from 1969 that has 50 60 year old recipes in it from Wyoming. This recipe for cooking in a frying pan, but I did it in a D.O. and skipped the turning over, for browning. It worked very good. It's called,

CAMP BREAD

2 cups flour
4 tablespoons baking powder
1tablespoon salt
2tablespoons butter or lard
1 cup water

Mix flour and salt, add lard, rub in lightly, then water and mix well. Grease frying pan and pour in batter and bake very slowly over fire. Turn on other side to brown.

I used a 10" oven, with 8 charcoals on the bottom, and 13 on top. As soon as the top started to brown, I removed all bottom heat

  1. Funny thing about work ... it gets in the way of life, unless you get to cook at work!
